Together in motion for a future without childhood cancer
Last weekend, thousands of runners gathered at the start of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2025 – an edition that was extra special. Not only because Amsterdam celebrates its 750th anniversary this year, but also because together we sent out a powerful message: we can make a difference.
Yakelos was there too! Farid and Şevket proudly ran the 7.5 km as part of Team KiKa, raising funds for childhood cancer research. Thanks to all the donations, support, and dedication from runners, volunteers, and supporters, an incredible total of €158,500 was raised. 💛
🧡 Why KiKa
KiKa (Children Cancer-Free) funds scientific research into childhood cancer, with the goal that every child can be cured in the future.
Thanks to generous donors, new treatment methods are constantly being developed, improving survival rates year after year. But we’re not there yet – and that’s why Yakelos, together with everyone involved, continues to support this cause.
🏃♂️ The Experience
The atmosphere in Amsterdam was unforgettable. From early morning, the streets filled with runners, supporters, and live music. Along the canals, through the Rijksmuseum tunnel, and into the Vondelpark – encouragement and energy were everywhere.
Farid and Şevket started the race in bright orange KiKa shirts, full of motivation and pride.
“This isn’t just a run,” says Farid. “With every step, you feel why you’re doing this. For the children fighting. For the families who need hope. And for a future where childhood cancer is no longer deadly.”
The 7.5 km wasn’t just a sporting challenge – it was a symbolic journey of strength, perseverance, and unity.

This year’s marathon was even more festive as Amsterdam celebrated 750 years.
The city was filled with a spirit of connection – exactly what makes this event so beautiful.
The route showcased the best of Amsterdam: its historic landmarks, lively neighborhoods, and thousands of residents cheering along the way.
A tribute to a city that has brought people together for centuries – now uniting runners, supporters, and donors in one big heart for KiKa.
