Today we attended the Olive Oil Masterclass at David’s Bar & Restaurant at Mediapark. It was an inspiring afternoon full of new insights into olive oil, the global market and how to recognise quality.

The masterclass was led by Gregor Christiaans, a certified olive oil taster, author and podcast host of Lekker Vet – everything about olive oil. He also organises the Amsterdam International Olive Oil Competition (AIOOC).

The presentation gave us an engaging look at olive oil production and international trade. We also discussed quality characteristics and possible defects. It was valuable to explore these topics with expert explanations and examples.

The tasting made the presentation even more educational. By smelling and tasting different oils side by side, you discover how aroma, flavour and finish shape the character of an olive oil.

Thank you, Gregor, for the excellent presentation and valuable insight into the world of olive oil. We learned a lot and will carry this knowledge into our work at Yakelos.
