What happens behind the doors of the Dutch House of Representatives? On Thursday, 29 October 2026, Yakelos joined entrepreneurs from the Duin- en Bollenstreek for a business visit to the Tweede Kamer in The Hague. The programme offered a close look at Dutch politics, the work of elected representatives and the value of exchanging ideas with other business owners from our region.
A regional business visit to The Hague
The day began in Noordwijk, where Moore MKW Accountants and Advisors welcomed the delegation and hosted lunch. This was an opportunity to meet and connect before travelling together to The Hague. After lunch, the group continued by coach provided by Brouwer Tours. During the journey, writer Rutger Middendorf spoke about his political thriller De val van de democratie and the questions behind its story: what could happen if several Members of Parliament changed political allegiance while keeping their seats? His talk added a thought-provoking perspective to the day’s focus on democracy and political decision-making.
A conversation with MP Renate den Hollander
At the Tweede Kamer, MeerBusiness welcomed the delegation in the VVD parliamentary party room for a conversation with MP Renate den Hollander. Her committee work spans a broad range of national topics, including economic affairs, foreign trade, finance, climate, agriculture, fisheries, food security and nature.
For Yakelos, these subjects connect naturally with the world of food and international trade. As a Dutch business importing Tunisian extra virgin olive oil, we are interested in how agriculture, food supply and cross-border trade feature in conversations about the future of the Netherlands. The meeting gave the entrepreneurs present an opportunity to hear more about the work behind these policy areas and to exchange views.
Inside the Dutch House of Representatives

A guided tour followed the conversation. Seeing the Tweede Kamer in person gives a different perspective from watching a debate on television. We learned more about the building and how the parliamentary setting is used, then visited the public gallery. From there, visitors can observe the place where representatives debate proposals and current affairs on behalf of the people they serve.
For entrepreneurs, a visit like this is a chance to look beyond the day-to-day running of a company. It makes the institutions and decisions that shape the business environment more tangible, while creating space to ask questions and learn from people with different experiences.
Networking with entrepreneurs from the Duin- en Bollenstreek
The afternoon continued with a drink at Nieuwspoort press centre. The group then travelled back to the region. Those who had signed up for the optional dinner concluded the day at Het Oude Dykhuys in Lisserbroek, where the conversations could continue around the table.

For Yakelos, the visit to the Dutch House of Representatives was a valuable opportunity to meet fellow entrepreneurs, gain a closer understanding of Dutch politics and reflect on topics that matter to businesses and society. We returned with fresh impressions and new conversations to continue back in our region.
We thank MeerBusiness Duin- en Bollenstreek for bringing local entrepreneurs together, Moore MKW for hosting the group in Noordwijk, and Brouwer Tours for providing the coach to The Hague.
